Dear friends,
Few public library systems can boast that they have an entire library dedicated to family and genealogical research–and Houston Public Library is one of them!
The Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library–nestled in the heart of the Museum District–provides invaluable resources for those who seek to uncover their family’s stories extending back for generations.
Since William and Susan Vaughan Clayton donated their home in 1968 to establish a formal library for HPL’s growing genealogical collection, the library now houses records from all 50 states, international records, family and heraldic charts, and facilitates access to 29 online databases for researchers.
You can learn more about the work of the Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library by clicking on the video link above.
If you are interested in learning more about your own family’s history, and looking for a place to start, the staff at the Research Center holds workshops on a regular basis for beginners and experts alike.
This is all made possible through YOUR support of Houston Public Library, which is committed to helping all Houstonians to uncover their past, understand their present, and discover what awaits them in the future.
With best regards,
Nick Sawicki
