Videos, Music, Podcasts… and More!

Group of children and volunteers in the maker lab.

Dear friends,

When most folks think of the Houston Public Library, it conjures up ideas of books and magazines; story time for children and reading clubs for adults. These are critical parts of HPL’s mission, but not the whole scope of what HPL actually provides.

Houston Public Library has always been about supporting Houstonians in the present, which means adapting to and incorporating new technologies to benefit everyone in the City of Houston.

Over the last five years, HPL has been investing in building out TECHLink Centers–free and publicly accessible sites operated by the library that offer an abundance of tech resources that otherwise would not be available to the Houston community.

There are currently 4 centers operating with number 5 opening in the fall of this year. Click on the video above to walkthrough the most recently opened TECHLink at the Dr. Shannon Walker Neighborhood Library.

Here are just a few things TECHLink offers to the people of Houston:

+ Free video, podcast, and music studios

+ 3D printing, embroidery, die cutting, and laser engraving

+ Image Scanners, AV Digitization Tools, VHS to DVD Conversion, Poster-Sized Printing, and Digital Artistry Tablets

+ Tech workshops to train individuals how to use the latest design and production software

+ Programming for children to help close the digital divide and inspire creativity

This is all made possible through YOUR support of Houston Public Library, which is committed to expanding technological resources that help inspire those building businesses, brands, and exploring their creativity. We look forward to seeing you visit sometime soon!

With best regards,

Nick Sawicki
